What is it?
A natural, satin finish foundation with medium but very buildable coverage.
I am absolutely in love with this foundation!
Ok so I’m not new to it at all, I had just been trying other things recently and decided that seeing as I’m quite oily in my t-zone (especially as im on and off the tube all day for work) that as summer is approaching I cannot possibly continue to use my beloved Nars Sheer Glow.
Having used the full bottle the first time I purchased this foundation last year I decided to repurchase and having been wearing it for the last week or so, I can’t imagine why on earth I ever stopped.
This foundation comes in a HUGE variety of shades with both warm and cool tones (i’m wearing 150 Buff and wear MAC NC15 fora reference) and is a good, affordable replacement for Mac’s Studio Fixing Fluid as it boasts many of the positive qualities affiliated with the well know foundation. It also comes in two types: normal/dry skin and combination/oily (i purchased the latter).
This foundation feels lightweight on the skin and I had forgotten just how well it covers despite this. I would say this is a medium coverage foundation but very buildable. Although a thin layer covered what it needed to, on application of a second think layer I personally found that I had no need for concealer at all!
This foundation wears well and gives a flawless, natural, satin finish for hours! I also found that even though my cheeks are quite dry, the combination/oily foundation kept my oily t-zone at bay (without any powder) for several hours without making my cheeks appear dry yay!
This foundation is easy to apply, just be aware that it dries quicker than most so you want to blend with a stippling brush or sponge (or whatever you prefer but I like those best) as you apply it.
Now, having said all this I do have a couple of points to make about the packaging…
Yes, the packaging is sleek and it does feel more expensive to have a screw top glass bottle but my issue with it is exactly that. It is a screw top glass bottle.
I can just about live with the glass bit as I have yet to experience a bottle smashing in my suitcase (I travel in and out of London every week for work) but the screw top is a bit of a pain.
As we all know, the danger with having no pump is that at some point you may well knock it over while the bottle is in use, not only that but it is a LIQUID foundation and comes out quite quickly and as with most liquids, is quite runny. This of course could get very messy and the outside of the neck of the bottle tends to get covered in foundation on a regular basis … a little unhygienic.
A pump would be much more efficient than our own unsteady hands at delivering the correct amount of foundation,
Worth the Money?
Despite the screw top? Absolutely! If you get that fed up with it decant it into something with a pump and your messy little problem is solved 🙂
I purchased mine from Superdrug for £11.99 but it is also available at Boots and most large chain supermarkets.
