Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquers

What are they?

Longer lasting sort of ‘liquid lipsticks’… Gorgeous.

The Review:

There are 8 shades in the collection ranging from nude to bright vivid red. There is definitely something for everyone and there are some great wearable every days pinks too. The packaging is lovely and you can see the product in the tube which is fantastic!

Application is a dream with a doe foot like applicator with a twist – the product collects in a little hollow in the applicator (see the above picture). Genius! You can use the colour straight like that for the full on gorgeously pigmented colour or wipe it off a little for a more natural colour. They apply with a gloss like shine and then settle to a subtle sheen.

The pigmentation is beautiful, colour range is fantastic and the the product is long lasting – perfect for night out, especially as the colours don’t bleed at all. An added bonus is that they are so comfortable to wear, they don’t dry my lips out like some other long lasting lippies I’ve tried. Can’t fault them!

Sleek Blush By3 Palette – Initial thoughts

sleekblushby3

What is it?

A Sleek blusher palette containing 3 shades of blusher – 2 matte shades and one shimmery shade. The one I have is shown here and is the orange/peach/coral palette.

Initial thoughts:

These palettes come in a few different colour ways and contain 3 highly pigmented blusher colours all in a sleek black palette ideal for travelling.

These are highly pigmented, smooth, blendable and great value for money. In the palette I bought, there are two matte shades – a bright orange and a bright coral – and a shimmery peach too. I can’t say I know about the other colour ways as I didn’t look at them properly in the shop but I believe that there’s a pink toned palette and also a brown/bronze coloured one. I would assume the ratio of matte to shimmery shades would be the same for the other palette but perhaps not. If you have any of the others then feel free to comment below and let us all know!

Worth the money?

As with all the Sleek make up I own, I was thoroughly impressed. The matte shades are pigmented and smooth, these colours aren’t chalky and it’s great to have a shimmery shade and matte shades all in one palette. The packaging is great for travelling, sturdy and yet not to bulky – sleek, slim and simple with the added bonus of a large mirror.

These palettes cost £9.99 here in the UK and are available from the Sleek website or Superdrug.

Face of The Day

Intro:

So today I was feeling some love for my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and as I have several Bright colours I went for a neutral eye and soft peachy pink cheeks. I finally settled on the gorgeous bright pink ‘Lovesick’ shade.

Happy reading! x

Here is what I used colour wise for this look:

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Revlon Powder Blush in 020 Tawny Peach

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Extreme Black

Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick

EYES:

I did a sheer wash of Urban Decay’s ‘Sin’ from the Naked palette, then to add a bit of depth blended ‘Naked’ into my crease.

Finally I lined my upper lash line with ‘Darkhorse’ and applied Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in ‘Extreme Black’.

CHEEKS:

I took a big fluffy powder brush and applied a small amount of Nars Laguna Bronzer to my cheekbones, temples and underneath the jaw.

On the apples off my cheeks I then applied Revlon’s Powder Blush in Tawny Peach using an angled fluffy blusher brush.

LIPS:

Now, this might sound a little weird but as my lipliner I used Rimmel’s Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact. I know what you’re thinking – omg, an eyeliner on your lips? no! – well actually yes.

It feels like a lipliner, it has great staying power as it’s waterproof, doesn’t dry my lips out and is the perfect base for the lip colour I used.

I used this to shade in my entire lips and then used a couple of layers of Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick.

Laura Mercier Undercover Pot

What is it?

A concealer, corrector and setting powder all in one small pot.
The Review
Flip the top and you have the infamous ‘Secret Camouflage’ concealer and a thinner almost sticky peachy corrector for the eye area. Close this and twist the top off and you have a translucent powder underneath.
I have nothing bad to say about this product. It has a great coverage concealer for blemishes/discolouration/the usual imperfections that recquire a good concealer. The concealer covers everything really well and feels similar to MAC’s studio fix concealer pot. If you need to build it up you can, it doesn’t, however, look cakey and it blends really well.
The corrector is a pale peachy/salmon colour, ideal for covering dark circles. Just like the regular concealer in this pot, it covers brilliantly without looking cakey.
The powder is very finely milled and kept my oily t-zone at bay for a good 6 hours before I felt the need to top up a little.
This product has everything in one little pot! I travel a lot for work so this is ideal for me. Even if you don’t travel it’s a great size for your make-up bag/handbag and with 3 items in one it will save you space 🙂
Worth the Money?
Laura Mercier is obviously a high end brand loved by many of the beauty community and unfortunately the price does match the hype. This pot will set you back £29.00 but then you are getting 3 different products so at roughly £10 each for products that really work and are in a compact little kit I think it’s worth it.
The Undercover Pot by Laura Mercier can be found at most department stores, the official website and Space NK where I purchased mine. Feel free to shop around on places like Amazon for a better price but here’s the link for the product and Space NK:

Favourite Perfumes

Intro:

Just thought I would do a post on my favourite perfumes. These are the ones that I wear a lot and always come back to. I’m not usually a really floral perfume kind of girl as I tend to prefer softer musky scents.

Elie Saab, Le Parfum:

This is the first ever perfume from Lebanese designer Elie Saab, a sweet but spicy floral mix that focuses on both jasmine and orange blossom but surprises with a warm patchouli and honey base.

Viktor and Rolf, Flowerbomb:

This yummy scent has top notes of green tea and bergamot, middle notes of jasmine, african orange flower, freesia, rose and orchid, and base notes of musk and patchouli. It’s not one of those sickly sweet fragrances, it’s a rich, expensive sweetness complimented by the musk.
Calvin Klein, Eternity Summer:

When I first tried this perfume I immediately picked up on the orange blossom first and then the musk, it’s a warm, feminine fragrance and lovely and light – as the name says, it really is perfect for summer.

If you like the original ‘Eternity’ then this is the perfect scent for a little something different, its more fruity and floral and the balance between the two is perfect. I have never been a fan of overly floral scents and like the fact that this one has just a hint. I’m completely in love with it!

The Body Shop, White Musk:

White Musk is a comfortable and velvety female fragrance. It opens with notes of ylang-ylang, galbanum and basil, followed by jasmine, rose, musk and lily, and finally settling with a base of musk along with jasmine, rose, iris, amber, patchouli, vetiver, peach, oakmoss and vanilla. It’s a beautiful, soft, musky, feminine scent.

The Body Shop, White Musk Libertine:

This has a turkish delight kind of scent with a lovely waft of orchid. It’s a fairly sweet but not sickly, slightly floral, musky fragrance that’s more girly than the original.

If you’re interested in purchasing any of these yummy fragrances I suggest you take a look on amazon as there are usually some amazing deals!

MAC Hey, Sailor! Crew Highlighting Powder Update

Just a little update:

So, if you’ve seen my post about the MAC Hey, Sailor collection haul then you will be aware that the highlighting powder called ‘Crew’ was something that I purchased.

Now, at first glance I had written that I thought the off white colour was the main colour and the the stripes in peach, pink and lilac were an overspray.

This is NOT the case at all! As you can see in the image, it is in fact the off white colour that was an overspray!

Now, I like this product, I continue to use it but it is NOT appropriate as a highlighting powder.

Its a gorgeous soft pink with a hint of peach (the purple doesn’t have much of an effect on the overall colour as the pink is dominant) and is ideal as a blusher, I have no idea why MAC has categorised this as a highlighting powder but nonetheless its lovely as a blusher, especially if you’re quite fair skinned.
