Sleek Blush By3 Palette – Initial thoughts

sleekblushby3

What is it?

A Sleek blusher palette containing 3 shades of blusher – 2 matte shades and one shimmery shade. The one I have is shown here and is the orange/peach/coral palette.

Initial thoughts:

These palettes come in a few different colour ways and contain 3 highly pigmented blusher colours all in a sleek black palette ideal for travelling.

These are highly pigmented, smooth, blendable and great value for money. In the palette I bought, there are two matte shades – a bright orange and a bright coral – and a shimmery peach too. I can’t say I know about the other colour ways as I didn’t look at them properly in the shop but I believe that there’s a pink toned palette and also a brown/bronze coloured one. I would assume the ratio of matte to shimmery shades would be the same for the other palette but perhaps not. If you have any of the others then feel free to comment below and let us all know!

Worth the money?

As with all the Sleek make up I own, I was thoroughly impressed. The matte shades are pigmented and smooth, these colours aren’t chalky and it’s great to have a shimmery shade and matte shades all in one palette. The packaging is great for travelling, sturdy and yet not to bulky – sleek, slim and simple with the added bonus of a large mirror.

These palettes cost £9.99 here in the UK and are available from the Sleek website or Superdrug.

Face of The Day

Intro:

So today I was feeling some love for my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and as I have several Bright colours I went for a neutral eye and soft peachy pink cheeks. I finally settled on the gorgeous bright pink ‘Lovesick’ shade.

Happy reading! x

Here is what I used colour wise for this look:

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Revlon Powder Blush in 020 Tawny Peach

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Extreme Black

Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick

EYES:

I did a sheer wash of Urban Decay’s ‘Sin’ from the Naked palette, then to add a bit of depth blended ‘Naked’ into my crease.

Finally I lined my upper lash line with ‘Darkhorse’ and applied Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in ‘Extreme Black’.

CHEEKS:

I took a big fluffy powder brush and applied a small amount of Nars Laguna Bronzer to my cheekbones, temples and underneath the jaw.

On the apples off my cheeks I then applied Revlon’s Powder Blush in Tawny Peach using an angled fluffy blusher brush.

LIPS:

Now, this might sound a little weird but as my lipliner I used Rimmel’s Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact. I know what you’re thinking – omg, an eyeliner on your lips? no! – well actually yes.

It feels like a lipliner, it has great staying power as it’s waterproof, doesn’t dry my lips out and is the perfect base for the lip colour I used.

I used this to shade in my entire lips and then used a couple of layers of Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick.

Look of the Week

Eyes:

I started by using Maybelline’s 24hr Colour Tattoo eyeshadow in 40 – ‘Permanent Taupe’ as my base all over the lid and up to the crease. I also used my finger to lightly place some along the lower lashes.

Using the Naked palette by Urban Decay I used a flat stiff brush to pat ‘Sidecar’ on top of this on the lid.

Next I used a fluffly dome brush to blend ‘Toasted’ into my crease and on the outer part of my lower lashes.

I then took a smaller stiff dome brush to darken the outer corners with ‘Hustle’.

I then used Stila’s Convertable Eye Colour in ‘Berry’ as a liner along my top and bottom lashes and finished with a coat of Lancome’s Hynose Drama mascara.

Cheeks:

I blended MAC’s ‘Tenderling blusher along my cheekbones and up towards my temples.

Lips:

The eyes are the focus here so I kept the lips fairly neutral with just a swipe of Barry M’s lipgloss in number 2.

What’s in my MAC blush palette?

FROM TOP LEFT TO BOTTOM RIGHT:

PEACHES: A true peach colour in MAC’s sheertone finish.

MELBA: A soft coral peach colour, softer than Peaches and with a tiny hint of pink. This has a matte finish.

PEACHTWIST: This is one of MAC’s sheertone shimmer colours, it’s a deeper shimmery peach shade.

PINK SWOON: A true bright pink shade in MAC’s sheertone finish.

PINCH O’ PEACH: Another sheertone shade, this colour is more pink than peach but softer and more wearable than Pink Swoon.

PLUM FOOLERY: A wearable, shimmery, pinked plum shade in a sheertone shimmer finish.

Here are the colours swatched in the same order as described above:

These blushers can be found at some department stores, MAC and MAC Pro freestanding stores and as always, online : They retail for £17.50

Urban Decay Naked Palette

What is it?

A gorgeous palette containing 12 neautral eyeshadows by Urban Decay.

The Review

This is a palette every make up fanatic needs (well – this or the Naked 2 palette – or both 😉 ). It’s full of a wide variety of neutral shades, both shimmery and matte and none of the usual chunky glitter that you run the risk of getting with some Urban Decay shadows. The shadows go on smoothly and blend very well.

This palette is perfect as a gift or for your average make up junkie and there are shades for a very natural look, summery bronze shades and of course some spectacular smokey ones too.

Worth the Money

Personally I feel like this palette is quite pricey (it’s £36 – ouch!) but because of the quality of the shadows I would still say it’s definitely a good investment as there are a huge variety of looks that can be done with these colours.

This palette can be bought from some department stores and the official Urban Decay website:  http://www.urbandecay.co.uk/

Sleek Eyeshadow Palettes

What is it?

A highly pigmented eyeshadow palette that comes in several different colour ways and contains 12 eyeshadows. The one pictured above is called ‘Sunset’.

The Review

I was so impressed the first time I tried these eyeshadows that I now own four of these palettes! The colours are VERY pigmented, easy to blend and go on the skin really smoothly. The palette comes with 12 shadows and a double ended sponge applicator that sits in a smooth black case with a large mirror on the inside.

The majority of the shadows in each palette are shimmery with a couple of matte ones thrown in – you may be able to tell in the picture that the only matte in the Sunset palette is the black, this however doesn’t bother me in the slightest as they also do a natural palette.

The natural palette contains plenty of matte browns and soft neutral colours which is fantastic for every day use!

There are several palettes to choose from depending on what you’re looking for, some contain crazy acid brights and others are more neutral but there is definitely something for everyone.

Worth the Money?

These palettes are £6.49 each from Superdrug or Sleek’s official website so I firmly believe they are well worth the money – that’s not even £1 per eyeshadow and the quality of these are amazing!
