Face of The Day

Intro:

So today I was feeling some love for my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains and as I have several Bright colours I went for a neutral eye and soft peachy pink cheeks. I finally settled on the gorgeous bright pink ‘Lovesick’ shade.

Happy reading! x

Here is what I used colour wise for this look:

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Revlon Powder Blush in 020 Tawny Peach

Urban Decay Naked Palette

Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in Extreme Black

Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick

EYES:

I did a sheer wash of Urban Decay’s ‘Sin’ from the Naked palette, then to add a bit of depth blended ‘Naked’ into my crease.

Finally I lined my upper lash line with ‘Darkhorse’ and applied Estee Lauder’s Sumptuous Extreme Mascara in ‘Extreme Black’.

CHEEKS:

I took a big fluffy powder brush and applied a small amount of Nars Laguna Bronzer to my cheekbones, temples and underneath the jaw.

On the apples off my cheeks I then applied Revlon’s Powder Blush in Tawny Peach using an angled fluffy blusher brush.

LIPS:

Now, this might sound a little weird but as my lipliner I used Rimmel’s Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer in 280 Pink Impact. I know what you’re thinking – omg, an eyeliner on your lips? no! – well actually yes.

It feels like a lipliner, it has great staying power as it’s waterproof, doesn’t dry my lips out and is the perfect base for the lip colour I used.

I used this to shade in my entire lips and then used a couple of layers of Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Lovesick.

Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Smokey Eyes Mascara

What is it?

A new mascara by Maybelline based on the original Volume Express Colossal but with the addition of black matte eyeshadow to the formula to give a smokey look.

The Review

The brush is really big but surprisingly easy to use and control – it grabs all of the lashes including the ones right in the corners. I have to say, I don’t quite understand the addition of the eyeshadow to the formula, to me it doesn’t necessarily look more smokey but does make the lashes noticeably more matte.
I love Maybelline mascaras in general and the original Volume Express is a staple in my make up bag. I can’t really see a smokey effect personally but there is definitely something a bit different about it, to me it seems to give the lashes a really volumising feathery effect.
Worth the Money?
I love this mascara, it’s long wearing, doesn’t flake on me and gives the lashes lots of volume and some added length. I often feel like the more high street or ‘drugstore’ brands’ offering of mascaras are way better value for money and at ¬£7.99 for a tube this one is no different.
This mascara is available from Boots, Superdrug, larger chain supermarkets with a make up section and as always, the official Maybelline website:

Estee Lauder Haul & Initial Thoughts

I went shopping with my mum at the weekend and set out to find a much lighter foundation…

I let the lovely Estee Lauder lady do my make up (my mum had hers done too) and I came away with this lovely lot … oopsie!

Initial thoughts: Estee Lauder Signature 5 tone Shimmer Powder – 01 Pink Shimmer

Normally I am a peachy colour blusher kind of girl but after seeing this on my face I was convinced that a bit of pink is no bad thing! This is such a young, fresh medium pink that will suit fair and medium skin. This has a gorgeous sheen to it and brightens the complexion for a fresher, younger look.

I also love the fact that this is actually a ‘shimmer powder’ you could use the colours seperately if you want to on yours eyes too… and the packaging is yummy!

Initial thoughts: Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara – 01 Extreme Black

I like to try different mascaras, normally however I stick to the cheaper brands like Maybelline and L’oreal because I honestly believe they make the best ones.

However, the lovely Estee Lauder lady, Jodie, used this on me and I loved it. Its just a really lovely deep black, doesn’t look clumpy and I like wand on it.

Initial thoughts: Estee Lauder Pure Colour Lipstick – 01 Crystal Baby

I love this colour, it’s a soft neatral peachy pink, almost like a ‘my lips but better’ shade with a subtle sheen. Very wearable and will suit most skin tones.

The foundation I bought that you can see in the first picture I will be doing a full review on so will not feature in this initial thoughts type post. It deserves its very own post!

The products shown in this post are available at most department stores and online :

MAC Eyeshadow – Dazzlelight

I am absolutely loving this eyeshadow right now! A gorgeous shimmery golden shade.

Great for?

A natural shimmery wash of colour on the lid, neutral looks and of course this shade also makes a great highlight for the top of the cheek bones and under the brow bone.

Easy to blend and makes a nice change from my usual highlight which is Shroom (also by MAC).

LOVE.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

What is it?

This is an eyeshadow primer available in four different shades that effectively prevents eyeshadows from creasing on the lid.

The Review

There‚Äôs quite a bit to be said about this eyeshadow primer. I’ve been using this for several years now and it’s a lifesaver!

This is perfect for those of you with oily lids whose shadow disappears after a couple of hours or just for preventing that annoying eyeshadow line that appears in the crease and messes up our wonderfully executed smokey eye!

There are four shades to choose from: Eden, Greed, Original and Sin. These shades all glide smoothly over the lid and have a lovely velvety texture. I find the best way to apply this product is with a fingertip but if you prefer then a flat shadow brush would work just as well, just remember, this product goes a long way so you only need a very small amount!

This product really is a must have for make up lovers as it really does keep eyeshadows on all day and night, it has enabled my shadow to last even through an exercise session! I love this stuff!

Worth the Money?

At £14.50 this product may seem a little expensive but a tube of this stuff will last you a very long time and keep your eyeshadow perfectly in place all day and night. Well worth the money!

This product is available from larger Boots stores, Boots online, some department stores such as Debenhams and the official Urban Decay website : http://www.urbandecay.com/eyeshadow-primer-potion/296,default,pd.html

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadows

What are they?

These are vibrant, long lasting cream gel eyeshadows similar to MAC’s Paint Pots.

The Review

I bought 4 of the colours but will definitely be going back for more! These applied smoothly, blended easily and lasted all day. I would recommend applying the bulk of the colour with your finger or a synthetic flat eyeshadows brush. I sheered the colour out with a fluffy dome brush towards the edges but if you do this make sure you wash your brush as soon as you can afterwards to prevent the colour staining.

The colours I have are as follows:

40 – Permanent Taupe

05 – Bold Gold

20 – Turquoise Forever

15 – Endless Purple

I have recently become aware that although the colours are exactly the same, it seems that in the US at least the names of these shadows are different from here in the UK – something I findly slightly odd! Oh well! Makes no difference to how brilliant they are ūüôā

Although I only have 4 of these, I believe there are actually 10 colours available, all of which are gorgeous and brilliantly vibrant. These shadows are ideal as a base for powder shadows, just on their own or even as liner – I’ve been using the purple as one all week and am loving it!

These are a brilliant alternative to MAC’s¬†Paint Pots and are far cheaper, yay! The¬†packaging is great too, I like the screw top jar on these as it stops them drying out.

Here are the shades I have swatched: left to right : Permanent Taupe, Eternal Gold, Turquoise Forever and Endless Purple

Worth the Money?

I honestly can’t think of anything negative to say about these except maybe that they should bring out even more colours ūüôā These are ¬£4.99 and¬†available from Superdrug, Boots, most larger chain supermarkets and the official Maybelline website:

Top 10 Neutral MAC Eyeshadows

Swatched from left to right as listed below.

Samoa Silk

This is a light matte peach colour ideal for blending out darker colours in the crease or all over the lid for a warm, natural every day look.

Expensive Pink

This is a mixture of gold, pink and coral with a light shimmery¬†finish. This colour is ideal for day or night, brush loosely over the lid for a fresh but natural pop of colour or pair with MAC’s Carbon in the crease to intensify the look for night time. I even sometimes use this as a blusher just on the apples of my cheeks for a natural glow, the shimmer in it gives a lovely fresh look.

Kid

This is a light brown, ideal as a brow colour for lighter brows or to blend out a smokey eye as its neither too light or dark.

All That Glitters

This is a gorgeous light peachy pink with a golden sheen. This colour can be worn with warmer tones for a more sultry look or with a darker colour in the crease to add some drama.

Nylon

This is a bright white gold shade with a shimmer that gives an almost ‘wet’ look. This colour can be use to brighten the eyes by placing in the inner corner of the eyes, as a highlight under the brow bone or even as a highlight just along the top of the cheek bones.

Swatched from left to right as listed below.

Cork

This is a medium brown shade ideal as a crease colour and could be paired with any shade for a neutral look.

Woodwinked

This is a gorgeous antiqued bronze/gold colour. This a good shade to be worn on its own just blended out into the crease or for a night time look can be worn with a darker colour in the crease and lots of black liner.

Satin Taupe

This is a grey/bronze shade brilliant for a wash of colour on the lid for day time or layered with a flat stiff brush, the colour is buildable and a good lid shade for a smokey eye.

Twinks

This brown based shade has red and plum tones with a golden sheen to it so although neutral, is very unique and will compliment all eye colours and skin tones.

Ground Brown

This matte dark brown is good as a warm toned dark brow colour, can be used to darken the crease or smudged along the lash line to make lashes look thicker.
