The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask

tea-tree-face-mask_l

What is it?

A pale green tea tree face mask with a thick consistency that is suitable for blemished skin. It claims to be a deep cleansing mask that helps fight blemishes and reduce dirt and oil on the skin.

The Review:

This mask has a creamy thick consistency and is a pale green colour. It comes in a tub rather than a squeezy tube which can be troublesome as we all know that tubs of products can mean a less hygienic product. Other than the packaging though, this product is lovely.

The smell is fresh, clean and as you would expect, this mask overall, is tea tree scented.

The mask glides on in a smooth layer when applied to the skin and does give a slight cooling and tingling sensation, something that I like as it makes me feel like it’s doing something.

I left it on for about 12 minutes and although I felt it get slightly harder, I still didn’t feel it get uncomfortably tight on my face like many other deep cleansing masks. It was also fairly easy to remove and came away nicely with some warm water and a muslin cloth. I generally find masks easier to remove by using a cloth.

Once I’d finished patting my skin dry I noticed my face looked both cleaner, brighter and oil free. Any redness on recent blemishes was also slightly diminished and after  a few weeks of using this I found my skin was overall less oily.

Worth the money?

The mask will set you back £10 and last you a long time. If you have oily or acne prone skin, this product is absolutely worth every penny. Tea tree soothes and cools whilst improving the appearance of and helping to prevent break out.

Quick Rave – Liz Earle Hair Products – Full Review coming soon!

haircare

Quick intro:

I’ve been using the Botanical Shine Shampoo (for all hair types) and the Botanical Shine Conditioner for oily hair for a little while now. I don’t have oily hair but I made a large order and got a full size of the product free of charge and as it’s so yummy, am working on using it all up before purchasing the one for either normal or damaged hair as I use a lot of heat on mine.

The shampoo is great as instead of using SLS and SLES, which are foaming agents present in most well-known hair cleansing products, they use a cleansing agent that comes from coconut yay! Many scalps are sensitive to SLS and SLES and this coconut and plant-based shampoo is suitable for all scalp and hair types. It’s even safe for coloured hair due to the lack of SLS and SLES as these can be harsh and are known to fade colour.

Initial Thoughts:

I am already a HUGE fan of Liz Earle and as you all know by now, the majority of the skincare products I use are from the brand so I was super excited to try the hair care goodies.

The shampoo is unlike the usual ‘better for you’ kind of shampoos as it lathers beautifully, smells deliciously natural and good for you BUT actually effectively cleans your hair. It. Is. Amazing.

The conditioner, despite not necessarily for my hair type as I got it free with a rather large order is also amazing! It smells yummy, leaves my hair super soft and shiny and doesn’t weigh it down either. Top Marks Liz Earle, as usual!

Clarisonic Mia – FULL REVIEW

What is it?

A deep cleansing skin brush that cleans deep into pores. I have the lavender one, however, other colours are available.

Initial thoughts?

I use this as instructed by the booklet that comes with it, it does come with the clarisonic cleanser but I prefer to stick to my lovely Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish as i know that this works for my skin.

I first remove my make up with a combination of a wipe and eye make up remover, or Bioderma and some cotton pads. This is IMPORTANT – the clarisonic mia (and the other clarisonics) are for CLEANSING the skin and are not designed for removing make up. Other than that, I’m sure no one wants a discoloured brush head if they can help it!

After removing my make up I then apply my cleanser to my face evenly, wet the brush head, turn it on and move the clarison mia over my skin gently in circular motions. It will turn itself off after 1 minute.

You are advised to use the brush for 20 seconds on your nose and chin area, 20 seconds on your forehead and 10 seconds on each cheek.

The Clarisonic  Mia is hassle free and easy to use and I love the fact it’s travel friendly because its small and the charger is small too – no big cradle like its bigger counterparts!

The Results?

I have been using this for about 10 weeks now and I have to say I have seen a huge improvement in how my skin looks and feels. I first used the ‘sensitive’ brush head that comes with the Clarisonic Mia when you purchase it and this seemed to work for my skin, however, I did some research and others have found that switching to the ‘normal’ brush head have resulted in even bigger improvements to the skin.

After discovering this, as my skin isn’t super sensitive I bought the ‘normal’ brush head about 3 weeks in and boy did it make a difference!

Having said this, I thoroughly recommend that if you do purchase this item as I did, you use the ‘sensitive’ brush head for a couple of weeks first as your skin may well respond very well to it. Other than this, the ‘sensitive’ brush head is gentler and is ideal for getting your skin adapted to being cleansed in this way.

My skin is clearer, brighter and softer and just generally looks far more healthy. I think this product is perfect for anyone  who loves a deep cleanse and wants to look after their skin or for those of us with more problematic skin as this product really does cleanse beautifully without irritation or redness.

Worth the Money?

I’m not going to lie to you, this is not cheap – it costs £120 … BUT … If your skin is something that makes you feel insecure because you have problems with it then I firmly believe it’s worth every penny.

Even if your skin is ok but you constantly wear a lot of make up and need a thorough clean or you like to really take care of your skin this is ideal.

If you can’t afford it why not chuck it on your birthday/christmas list? That’s what I did 😉

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic

200ml bottle

What is it?

A gentle floral toner made with all natural ingredients.

The Review

If there’s one thing I’m a complete freak about it has to be taking care of my skin properly and this toner has become an absolute must have.

Not only does it smell yummy but it really does do what it says on the bottle. Place a few drops onto a cotton pad after cleansing and wipe over the face and neck to feel delightfully refreshed.

This toner closes pores and removes any residue from cleansing without drying out my skin, in fact it actually leaves a thin veil of moisture on the skin from the vitamin E that’s in it –  yay!

It is cool and brilliantly refreshing on the skin and does the job perfectly.

Worth the Money?

The 200ml bottle will set you back only £12.50 and lasts ages so it’s a yes from me! As with all Liz Earle products this product comes in different sizes and is even available in a spray form for refreshing yourself on the go, amazing!

This product is available from some department stores and the official Liz Earle website:

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

What is it?

This is a cream cleanser made from natural ingredients that promises to gently remove every day grime and make up from the face, including eye make up.

The Product

I ordered this product along with several others on the recommendation of a make up artist I was working with regularly. I had been using a cleansing milk and toner from Lancome and although that genuinely worked for me I needed something that was less expensive and just as effective.

As soon as my package arrived I was already impressed with the information booklet and Product Guide included, as well as this I also received a free 50ml sample of their Instant Boost Skin Tonic (a gentle floral toner) and everything was beautifully packaged in tissue paper.

The starter kit came with 100ml of the cream cleanser and 2 muslin cloths all in a pale blue zip up bag (very handy for storage and travel).

I have to say I expected big things from this cleanser and was not disappointed. I wear a full face of make up (although, a natural look) for work, unless i’m shooting and this includes waterproof mascara as I spend a lot of time on the tube. This cleanser took everything off first time.

The instructions say to cleanse once, pat dry and then cleanse again. I followed these instructions and my face had no trace of make up whatsoever. Not to mention it didn’t irritate my skin or my eyes even when removing my eye make up.

I have been using this product for nearly 4 weeks now and although I have fairly good, even skin anyway, even I can see a difference. I’m only 18 and so occasionally still get minor break outs of spots and these have dramatically reduced in frequency and severity. My complexion is brighter and where I would normally have slight redness in the areas prone to break outs, these have completely disappeared!

Worth the money?

Yes! Every single penny. And so is the Skin Boost Tonic and Skin Repair Moisturiser! (but more on that later).

This is an absolute must have for me now and I love the fact that all the ingredients are natural and responsibly sourced. If you’re nervous about spending £14.25 for the starter kit (100ml product and 2 cloths) then why not purchase the 30ml tube that comes with 1 muslin cloth for only £5.50?

You could even check out their ‘Travel and Try Me’ kits 🙂 go on, I promise you won’t regret it!
